Second positive case in Grade 4 cohort
Posted on 09/26/2021
2nd Positive COVID case in Grade 4KFL&A Public Health reported a second and third positive case of COVID-19 in students at Loughborough Public School on Sept. 24 and 26, 2021. The first case was reported in a student on Sept. 23, 2021.

Identified students and staff are now isolating including some students who have been identified as close contacts because of a bus cohort. Because there is a chance they could develop COVID-19, these affected students are isolating and will return to school as per guidelines outlined by KFL&A Public Health.

Due to the second positive COVID-19 case in a single cohort, KFL&A Public Health has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at the school. An outbreak is declared when there is evidence of transmission within the school or bus setting. The school remains open and classes continue for all other students.

KFL&A Public Health is working with the school to identify cohorts of students and staff who are affected by the positive cases.
Students who have not received a letter or call from KFL& Public Health can continue to go to school, if they pass the daily screening.

We recognize that this information may be stressful and we want to ensure you understand the process going forward. KFL&A Public Health and the school are taking all necessary steps to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.

The school continues to work with KFL&A Public Health to reinforce public health measures with staff and students including screening, masking, physical distancing and limiting student activities to their required cohorts. Visitors maybe restricted to the school.
