Morning Entry Routines
To reduce the amount of congestion on the yard and to ensure the safety of our students, we kindly ask that parents who drop off their child(ren), drop them off at the gates (Kindergarten gate and gate close to the greenhouse). We truly appreciate your support with ensuring the safety of our Lions.
Data Verification and Digital Acceptable Use Forms
Data Verification forms and Digital Acceptable Use forms (Grades 1 to 8) will be sent home with students this week. We ask that these forms are reviewed and returned as soon as possible.
RecycleYourRead
Once again this year, we will be having the "Recycle Your Read" sale. The books will be located in the library during the Open House, as well as during the day for students to purchase.
Please send in gently used books (games and puzzles are also accepted) to the library in the coming week.
Everything will be $1 and all the money will go towards student activities at Loughborough Public School.
Terry Fox Run
This year marks the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope. Our goal this year is to raise $5,190 – which is only $1 more than we raised last year. In LPS’s 20 years of participating in the Terry Fox School Run, we have raised an amazing $49,741.46 for the Terry Fox Foundation! Over 75% of every dollar raised goes directly to cancer research. After our second week into our new school year, we have already raised $1,470 through online donations and 45th Anniversary T-shirt sales!
There are three ways you can help us meet our goal:
• By bringing in a “toonie” for Terry ($2) by Friday October 3rd, 2025 and giving it to your homeroom teacher so it can be added to your class's total
• By sharing LPS’s online fundraising page with friends and family https://schools.terryfox.ca/LoughboroughPSSydenham
• By ordering a Limited Edition 45th Anniversary Terry Fox Run T-shirt through your School-Day.com account under ‘products’. (Youth sizes: $25, Adult sizes: $30 +SchoolDay Fee). Deadline to order will be extended to Wednesday September 17th!
Our Terry Fox School Run date is set for Friday October 3rd, 2025. Students are encouraged to wear their Terry Fox Run t-shirt (new or old!) or school spirit wear or colours.

EmergencyDrills
During the months of September and October, our Lions will be participating in our Emergency Drills- Fire Drill, Hold and Secure Drill and Lockdown Drill. These drills are important to ensure that students are aware of the expectations and routines in case of an emergency. Please take the time to discuss the importance of these drills with your child(ren) and why we take the time to practice.
Human Development and Sexual Health
Below is a link to the list of Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum from grades 1 to grade 8. Please review the expectations and only fill out the exemption form (second link) if you would like your child to be exempted from the Human Development and Sexual Health portion of their Health class.
Families will get a "heads up" from your child's health teacher a couple of weeks prior to Human Development and Sexual Health being taught in their classroom.

News from our Loughborough School Council
Dear Loughborough Families,
Welcome back! We hope you and your children had a wonderful summer and are excited for another great year at Loughborough Public School.
The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a volunteer group of parents and guardians who work together to support our school community through fundraising, family engagement, and events that bring us all together. This year, we would love to see even more families get involved!
Being part of SAC is a great way to:
· Stay informed about what’s happening at the school
· Share your ideas and voice as a parent/guardian
· Help make a difference in your child’s school experience
Our first meeting and elections will be held on Tuesday, September 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the school library. Everyone is welcome—whether you’d like to put your name forward for a role or just come listen and learn more.
Below is a list of the SAC positions and their descriptions so you can see where you might be interested in helping out — you’re also welcome to share a role with someone else or simply attend meetings.
We hope you’ll join us and help shape another exciting year at Loughborough!
Warm regards,
Stephanie Leonard
