Black History Month
During the month of February, Loughborough students will recognize Black History Month. Black History Month is a way for Canadians to celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians. Through their work and dedication, they have helped to enhance and define the Canadian culture and to make Canada into the country that it is today.
The theme of this year's Black History Month is “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow's Visionaries,” celebrates three decades of official recognition in Canada. This theme highlights the enduring contributions of Black Canadians, linking historical trailblazers with future innovators to emphasize progress, resilience, and continuity.
Please take the time to discuss, with your child, the importance of why we recognize and celebrate Black History Month.

2026-2027 School Year Calendar
The Limestone District School Board is developing the 2026-2027 school year calendar. With Labour Day falling later than usual in 2026, the creation of a balanced and consistent calendar has presented more challenges than in typical years.
We continue to receive inquiries about the possibility of introducing a fall break. During the 2023–2024 school year, students, families, staff, and community members were surveyed on this topic. Due to the way the calendar year falls and contractual agreements, implementing a fall break is not something we are able to consider for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
In collaboration with our coterminous boards—the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board—we have prepared four calendar options for consideration. We are seeking feedback from members of the Limestone community to help guide our final decision.

Winter Weather Outdoor Clothing
With the winter weather, comes colder and wetter weather conditions. When deciding if students will go outside for recess, we follow the Public Health extreme cold guidelines. Generally, if the temperature is forecast to be -25C or -28C with the windchill, children are kept inside. If the temperatures are below this threshold, we will try to make it outside for recess. It is important that students come to school with the appropriate outdoor clothing including: winter coat, snow pants, boots, mitts/gloves and a toque.
Register Your Child Now in LDSB
Do you have a child ready to start Kindergarten this September? If your child is four- or five-years-old by the end of December (2026), now is the time to register. Limestone offers Kindergarten in both English and French Immersion—where 85% of instruction is in French—plus a strong focus on the core skills of reading, writing, and math. With greater choice in schools and future programming, your child can discover a sense of belonging, while learning the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. For more information, please visit limestone.on.ca/kindergarten.
In Limestone, students may be permitted to attend any school within the board when there is available student space, upon submission and approval of the proper application. Please note only one application per student can be processed; please do not submit more than one application for multiple school locations. If multiple applications are submitted, families will be contacted to select which school application they would like processed, and all other applications will be removed from the system.
The board is not responsible for the provision of any transportation for students outside of their regular school boundary area. This applies to both students within Limestone’s geographic boundaries (out of boundary), and students who live outside of those boundaries (out of district).
To find the name and location of your in-boundary or home school(s), enter the student’s home address into Tri-Board's Locate A School tool.
SHS Youth and Money Workshop
LPS Talize Fundraiser
We are excited to announce a new fundraiser happening from now until the end of May 2026! We have partnered with Talize Kingston to raise money for student activities. For those who are not familiar with Talize, they are a Canadian-owned and operated for-profit thrift retailer with an outlet in Kingston's West End (near Reid's Dairy).
How do we make money? Talize weighs donations that are made in support of LPS and will give us 20 cents per pound of clothing and housewares, and 10 cents per pound of media (books, CDs etc.). Donations must be given to an attendant at the donation centre during open hours (around the right side of the building) and you must mention that it is in support of Loughborough Public School's fundraiser.
See the flyers below for more information, including what items are accepted and what are not.
Lost and Found- Team ROAR
We have many items in our Lost and Found. Please visit Team ROAR to see if any items in our Lost and Found belong to your child.
