International Day of Pink
Wednesday, April 8 is the International Day of Pink. The day is dedicated to creating a more inclusive and diverse world. It is also a day to stand up to homophobic and transphobic bullying and discrimination. We encourage all our Lions to wear pink to show their support and solidarity towards equity and inclusion.
LPS Cake Bingo- Thank You
We had an amazing turnout to our LPS Cake Bingo with almost 150 community members joining us for the event. Additionally, over 30 cakes were donated to the fundraiser. A huge thank you to all those who attended and/or donated a cake. On behalf of our Lions, we want to thank our amazing community for their continued support of LPS initiatives. We also want to thank our LPS school council for all their effort and assistance with the night.
News from our Loughborough School Council
What a sweet success!
A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our 2nd Annual Cake Bingo! We were thrilled to welcome approximately 120 people for an evening full of fun, laughter, and, of course, lots of cake. Thanks to your amazing support, we raised over $1,400 for our school community—wow!
Events like this are only possible because of the time, energy, and generosity of our families, volunteers, and our SAC. We truly appreciate everyone who helped make the evening such a fun and successful event. Your enthusiasm made the night truly special (and delicious!).
Mark your calendars! Our next School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting will take place on April 14th at 6:00 p.m. in the library, with a subcommittee meeting for Family Fun Night just prior at 5:30 p.m.
Our SAC meetings are always open, and we’d love to see new faces get involved. If you have questions, ideas, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Stephanie Leonard at stephanie_farmer@hotmail.com.
Thank you again for your continued support!
Supporting Our Lions
In response to tragic events, locally or globally, students may experience a wide range of emotions, including sadness, confusion, worry, or questions about what they may be hearing from others. Students may react in different ways depending on their age, experiences, and how connected they feel to the situation. With time, reassurance, and support from caring adults, these reactions often ease.
We encourage families to keep lines of communication open at home, to invite questions, and to offer reassurance as needed. If you have concerns about your student or would like support, please refer to the following resources:
· Supporting Your Child’s Well-being
· Caring for yourself while caring for others: A parent’s guide to self-care
· By Your Side (parent/caregiver resources to support mental health learning)
· Kids Help Phone (Call 1-800-668-6868 or Text “Connect” to 686868)
If you are worried about your student’s immediate safety, or the safety of others, please seek urgent assistance by calling 9-1-1, your local mobile crisis service (613-354-7388), or by going to the nearest emergency department.

Register Your Child Now in LDSB
Do you have a child ready to start Kindergarten this September? If your child is four- or five-years-old by the end of December (2026), now is the time to register. Limestone offers Kindergarten in both English and French Immersion—where 85% of instruction is in French—plus a strong focus on the core skills of reading, writing, and math. With greater choice in schools and future programming, your child can discover a sense of belonging, while learning the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. For more information, please visit limestone.on.ca/kindergarten.
In Limestone, students may be permitted to attend any school within the board when there is available student space, upon submission and approval of the proper application. Please note only one application per student can be processed; please do not submit more than one application for multiple school locations. If multiple applications are submitted, families will be contacted to select which school application they would like processed, and all other applications will be removed from the system.
The board is not responsible for the provision of any transportation for students outside of their regular school boundary area. This applies to both students within Limestone’s geographic boundaries (out of boundary), and students who live outside of those boundaries (out of district).
To find the name and location of your in-boundary or home school(s), enter the student’s home address into Tri-Board's Locate A School tool.
LPS Talize Fundraiser
We are excited to announce a new fundraiser happening from now until the end of May 2026! We have partnered with Talize Kingston to raise money for student activities. For those who are not familiar with Talize, they are a Canadian-owned and operated for-profit thrift retailer with an outlet in Kingston's West End (near Reid's Dairy).
How do we make money? Talize weighs donations that are made in support of LPS and will give us 20 cents per pound of clothing and housewares, and 10 cents per pound of media (books, CDs etc.). Donations must be given to an attendant at the donation centre during open hours (around the right side of the building) and you must mention that it is in support of Loughborough Public School's fundraiser.
See the flyers below for more information, including what items are accepted and what are not.
Lost and Found- Team ROAR
We have many items in our Lost and Found! Team ROAR meets weekly to organize the items. Please encourage your child(ren) to stop by the front foyer before Friday as we will be donating all items that are leftover. Click here to view an updated visual of the lost & found items.
Piano Lessons at LPS
Carolyn Schaub, who has been teaching piano at LPS and in the region since 2006, will be offering piano lessons at LPS again this year during the school day. Her goal is to instill the love of making music. Her teaching philosophy and the curricula she uses, can be found at www.carolynscreative.com. The cost is $27.25 per lesson or $98.10 per month for the school year. To reserve a piano spot or ask questions please emailcmschaub@sympatico.ca or call (613)376-6207.
Hot Lunch
Loughborough PS offers the option to order hot lunch 3 days a week. New this year, we will have pizza on Tuesdays from Mike’s Pizza, right here in Sydenham. Wednesdays will be Subway and Mike's Pizza Mac and Cheese, and Thursdays will be Gino’s Chicken Fingers & Fries. Orders are due the Sunday prior to the week, at midnight. Place your order at https://www.school-day.com
Late or Cancelled Buses
At times, our school buses are cancelled or late to pick up students in the morning or late to school to pick up students at the end of the day. If your child’s bus is late, please visit www.triboard.ca and click on Delays and Cancellations to check on the status of your child’s bus. As well, you can download the BusPlanner Delays app on your phone. Once you have downloaded the app, you can register to receive bus updates for Loughborough Public School. Once you are registered, you will receive notifications regarding your child(ren)'s bus status if they are delayed or cancelled.
