Welcome Back to a New School Year!

Welcome Back to a New School Year!
Posted on 09/04/2018

Welcome to the new school year! As a staff, we are very excited about seeing all the smiling faces of our students filling our halls with their energy and enthusiasm! We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new families!  We are committed to helping all of our children feel welcome and connected at Loughborough Public School.

We also strive to challenge every student to grow academically, socially and emotionally throughout the year. Our staff have spent many hours this summer planning and creating a variety of learning activities to engage all of our students in their learning. Please read through the information that comes home this week and return the following forms if applicable to your child:

  • Data Verification Form (for everyone)
  • Student Insurance Form (if your child intends to play school sports and isn’t covered through your personal insurance)
  • Medical Forms/Information

Many students received an agenda today which is a useful tool for recording homework and special events as well as maintaining home/school communication.  Please check your child’s agenda daily for notices and other information.  We would ask that you please send in $4 per student to cover agenda costs. Many classes will be using an online tool to communicate back and forth so please check for that in your classroom newsletters.

Our students benefit greatly from your involvement.  Please contact the office if you are interested in volunteering at the school this year or being a part of our wonderful PAC group. Our volunteers are involved in many different activities including: reading with students, teacher-led instructional support in reading and math, school-wide events, Parent Council activities, the hot lunch program, and maintaining the library.

Please keep Thursday, September 27 free on your calendar for our annual Open House.  This is a great opportunity to start off the year together!  The September newsletter will be posted on our website and sent out on our Twitter account later this week and will contain additional information.  The Parent Advisory Council elections will also be held that evening.  If you are interested in running for a position or would like to nominate someone, please pick up a form at the office.  The Parent Council will have a booth set up at the Corn Roast to explain how you can become involved in the school and to answer any questions.

We feel very fortunate to be back at LPS for this upcoming school year!  It is such a great privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers and students work together to care for and support each other.  Please feel free to drop in to say hello or to contact us at the school to discuss any questions/concerns that you might have.  We are very excited to get started on a wonderful year of learning together!
