2019 Maker Faire at LPS!

Over 200 Students Participating in LPS Maker Faire
Posted on 04/23/2019
For several weeks, our students have been working on independent Maker projects for our upcoming showcase on April 25th.  Traditionally, the French word faire, meaning to do and make, is used to signify the essence of this event.  Please check out our blog to see more about our first year's Maker Faire!

Students are asked to bring in projects the morning of April 25th, unless their teacher has asked for it to come in earlier.  Projects will be on display for the school to see from 11:30am - 3:30pm.  Parents are welcome to come and see projects from 3:40 to 6:00pm.  We would ask that parents try to come after the buses have left to ensure ample parking.  We ask that projects be taken home only at 6pm if possible, or the next day.

Schedule:
8:10-9:45 am- Grades 5-8 set up their projects
10:00-10:50- Kindergarten- Grade 4 set up their projects
11:30-12:50- Grade 5-8 students stay with their projects and share information with touring students from K-4
1:50-3:30- K-4 students stay with their projects and share information with touring students from 5-8.
3:30-6:00pm- Parents and friends are welcome to come tour projects.  Any students who are attending must be supervised by an adult.

We cannot wait to see everyone's creative thinking and experiments with learning!  The end product is not nearly as important as the experience you have had while learning how to make something.  For this reason, we do not make this a competitive event.  It is a chance to share how empowering and exciting student led learning can be.
