RESCHEDULED: How to help children manage BIG emotions
POSTPONED DUE TO SNOW DAY - NEW DATE Monday, January 23, 2017

The Loughborough Public School and Harrowsmith Public School Parent Councils have partnered to host a guest speaker on how to help our children manage anxieties and big emotions.

The free event takes place from 7-9 p.m., Monday, November 21 at Loughborough Public School in the gym and all Sydenham Family of Schools (Elginburg PS, Harrowsmith PS, Perth Road PS, Prince Charles PS & Loughborough PS) are welcome to attend.

Dr. Sian Phillips is a clinical psychologist in Kingston who specializes in working with children and families. She will speak this evening on the importance of relationships when helping our children navigate their increasingly complex world. She will briefly outline the newest research on brain development and talk about how to connect with children at times when their big emotions make it difficult to be in healthy relationships. She will discuss how in a world that is seemingly more connected through technology we are often feeling more anxious and disconnected. We will discuss how as parents we can respond to our children in ways that helps promote mental health. BIG Emotions poster with Clinical Psychologist Dr. Sian Phillips
