Bricks 4 Kidz Opportunity: GRADES 1-3

Grades​ ​1-3  Program​ ​Fee:​ ​$70 
Tuesdays​ ​10:50am-11:30am  September​ ​19​th​​ ​–​ ​October​ ​24​th    

This​ ​is​ ​a​ ​hands-on​ ​class​ ​where​ ​students​ ​will​ ​design​ ​and​ ​build​ ​machines,​ ​catapults,  pyramids,​ ​derby​ ​carts,​ ​buildings​ ​and​ ​other​ ​constructions​ ​out​ ​of​ ​LEGO®​ ​bricks.​ ​While  exploring​ ​engineering,​ ​architecture​ ​and​ ​physics,​ ​students​ ​will​ ​develop​ ​problem​ ​solving​ ​and  critical​ ​thinking​ ​skills.​​ ​​Participants​ ​build​ ​a​ ​new​ ​project​ ​each​ ​week.​ ​Architectural​ ​concepts  are​ ​taught​ ​while​ ​assembling​ ​buildings,​ ​bridges​ ​and​ ​other​ ​structures.​​ ​​Once​ ​the​ ​project​ ​is  completed,​ ​children​ ​use​ ​the​ ​rest​ ​of​ ​their​ ​time​ ​to​ ​expand​ ​their​ ​gadgets​ ​and​ ​collaborate​ ​with  one​ ​another.     NOTE:​ ​Program​ ​enrollment​ ​is​ ​on​ ​a​ ​first​ ​come,​ ​first​ ​served​ ​basis​ ​up​ ​to​ ​a​ ​maximum​ ​of​ ​30  spaces.​ ​Completed​ ​registration​ ​form​ ​and​ ​payment​ ​due​ ​to​ ​the​ ​school​ ​by​ ​​Wednesday,  September​ ​13th​.​ ​Accepted​ ​forms​ ​of​ ​payment​ ​include​ ​cash​ ​or​ ​cheque.​ ​​ ​Cheques​ ​can​ ​be  made​ ​payable​ ​to​ ​​Bricks​ ​4​ ​Kidz​ ​Kingston.     Students​ ​bring​ ​their​ ​lunch​ ​with​ ​them​ ​to​ ​this​ ​program​ ​and​ ​are​ ​given​ ​time​ ​at​ ​the​ ​beginning​ ​of  the​ ​class​ ​to​ ​eat.​ ​Bricks​ ​4​ ​Kidz​ ​is​ ​proud​ ​to​ ​be​ ​part​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Boys​ ​and​ ​Girls​ ​Club​ ​of​ ​Kingston​ ​&  Area;​ ​supervision​ ​for​ ​this​ ​program​ ​is​ ​provided​ ​by​ ​Bricks​ ​4​ ​Kidz​ ​staff,​ ​who​ ​are​ ​also​ ​Ontario  Certified​ ​Teachers.​ ​If​ ​required,​ ​students​ ​will​ ​be​ ​arranged​ ​into​ ​appropriate​ ​grade​ ​level  groupings​ ​to​ ​suit​ ​the​ ​skill​ ​level​ ​of​ ​each​ ​individual​ ​student.     The​ ​topic​ ​of​ ​this​ ​workshop​ ​is​ ​Cranium​ ​Contraptions.​ ​Build​ ​and​ ​explore​ ​crazy​ ​contraptions  that​ ​really​ ​work​ ​your​ ​brain!​ ​​ ​Students​ ​will​ ​use​ ​LEGO​ ​Bricks,​ ​axles,​ ​pulleys,​ ​gears,​ ​and​ ​motors  to​ ​create​ ​fun​ ​and​ ​interactive​ ​models.​ ​Compete​ ​with​ ​friends​ ​in​ ​a​ ​rousing​ ​game​ ​of​ ​Battle  Tops​ ​or​ ​Foosball.​ ​Put​ ​your​ ​hand-eye​ ​coordination​ ​to​ ​the​ ​test​ ​with​ ​the​ ​Ping​ ​Pong​ ​Popper  model.​ ​Experiment​ ​with​ ​the​ ​Mini​ ​Fig​ ​Mover​ ​to​ ​see​ ​how​ ​this​ ​model​ ​will​ ​send​ ​your​ ​mini​ ​fig​ ​for  a​ ​ride.​ ​All​ ​this​ ​and​ ​more​ ​are​ ​waiting​ ​to​ ​be​ ​discovered​ ​as​ ​students​ ​learn​ ​and​ ​play​ ​with  Cranium​ ​Contraptions!     Class​ ​1​ ​–​ ​Drawing​ ​Machine   Class​ ​2​ ​–​ ​Crazy​ ​Gears  Class​ ​3​ ​–​ ​Ping​ ​Pong​ ​Popper  Class​ ​4​ ​–​ ​Fooseball  Class​ ​5​ ​–​ ​Battle​ ​Tops   Class​ ​6​ ​–​ ​Mini​ ​Fig​ ​Mover    If​ ​you​ ​have​ ​any​ ​questions​ ​about​ ​this​ ​program,​ ​or​ ​the​ ​programs​ ​we​ ​offer​ ​in​ ​general,​ ​please  contact​ ​Rosie​ ​at​ ​​  Note:​ ​this​ ​program​ ​requires​ ​a​ ​minimum​ ​of​ ​16​ ​participants​ ​to​ ​run.
